I am excited to be here at Learning Unlimited and to be entrusted to be your teacher. It is my hope that the coming year we will grow in our knowledge of the content of the classes, but also grow in character and the ability to learn.
Below you will find information about what my expectations are, and how we can work together to help each student learn and grow. Please know I want to be available to answer any questions you may have and support the growth of each student.

The school's policies will be followed in all areas. This is particularly true with cell phones. They are not allowed. Students will also be accountable for Academic Integrity in all their work.
Key Suggestions for Success in the Classroom
1. Always come prepared and have homework completed.
2. Ask questions in class if you don’t understand something.
3. Make good use of classroom time.
4. Take notes and keep an organized notebook.
5. Participate regularly during classroom discussions.
6. Review and be prepared for tests.
Grading Distribution
For Social Studies:
Your grades will reflect a weighted distribution according to the following categories.
Assignments – 10%
Tests – 35%
Quizzes – 25%
Projects – 30%
For Math
Your grades will reflect a weighted distribution according to the following categories.
Tests – 55%
Quizzes - 35%
Assignments – 10%
I will be using the school’s grading scale.
A = 90 - 100% B = 80 – 89% C = 70 – 79% D = 65 – 69% F = <65%
I do not grade on a curve and grades are not rounded up.
Homework/Classwork
Due dates are established for all assignments. Any assignment turned in after the due date will be reduced accordingly. Homework/classwork is worth 10 points each assignment. Assignments that are late will lose 10% each school day they are late. After 10 school days, it will result in a zero (0). Extenuating circumstances will be evaluated at my discretion.
All handouts and returned work should be kept in a class notebook. Students are responsible for keeping the work to verify that the work was turned in.
Academic Honesty:
Work should be a reflection of individual student ideas. Students should not look at another student’s work or share their work with others. Receiving or providing answers for an assignment, essay, quiz, or test is cheating and academic dishonesty—regardless of its form. All written essays will be processed through a plagiarism checker to check for plagiarism. The threshold of copied work will be discussed on the assigning of the essay. Any such action can result in a referral to the office for further review and possible additional disciplinary action.
Cheating includes:
- Copying, texting, emailing, or in any way duplicating assignments that are turned in, wholly or in part, as original work.
- Sharing or receiving quiz and test questions from previous classes to current classes.
- Gathering answers from websites for questions on worksheets, in textbooks, or other assignments.
- Exchanging assignments with other students, either handwritten or computer generated, whether you believe they will be copied or not.
- Using any form of memory aid during tests or quizzes without the express permission of the instructor.
- Giving or receiving answers during tests of quizzes.
- Taking credit for group work when you have not contributed and equal or appropriate share toward the final result.
Make up Policy
It is the student’s responsibility to make up notes, homework, quizzes. and tests. I will work with the student to help and schedule any tests/quizzes. However, it is the student’s responsibility to arrange the make-up time and ask for any handouts. Normal policy will be one extra day for each day missed. If the student fails to make up the work on the assigned date, a score of zero will be recorded.
For students in my social studies classes, the following are recommended school supplies for my classes.
Supplies
Composition notebook for notes in class.
3 Ring Binder
Notebook paper for homework
Colored Pencils
Computer/Tablet
Calculator for math - A TI-84 is recommended.
Computers/Electronic Devices
Students will NOT be allowed to take class notes on the devices. Students will need to access worksheets, and take quizzes and tests on their devices. Some textbooks will also be in a digital format. Student's devices should have internet capabilities. Students will need to complete a school technology usage form. This should be provided the first day of classes. Students that are off-task while using the technology will have the technology taken away for a period of time and parents will be contacted. Examples of off-task behavior include, but are not limited to games, social media, responding to personal emails, chatting with students or others, etc.
Classroom Expectations
Appropriate behavior is expected in class. Students should treat staff members and other students of the class with respect. Behavior such as being disrespectful, talking while not recognized by the teacher, loud conversing, and other such activities are prohibited. Students should be in their assigned seat and ready to work when the bell rings. The classes are encouraged to have discussion and ask questions, but it must be in the context of the subject. Quality of participation in class discussions and other activities will be noted.
Students are expected to be in class. Trips to the bathroom during class will be kept at a minimum. Students should use the bathroom prior to class. Don’t plan on making a habit of such trip during class time.
Respect the rights of others -- Only one person talks while everyone else listens. Treat others with dignity and respect. Students should feel safe to exchange ideas. Professional courtesy should always prevail. No profanity, inappropriate conversations, or name calling of any kind will be tolerated.
School policies on cell phones and dress code will be strictly enforced.
